2010 How Things Have Changed
When this year started I was in the middle of evacuation from a flood in our office.
I was getting ready to leave my job I had done (and loved) for over 15 years.
I was in a good headspace with my weight loss.
I was looking forward to more travel with my husband.
As the year has passed so much has changed
I am now in a new office with a new work group - -learning to love it and all the new experiences the new job brings me.
Learning the new job strained my brain and there was nothing left for weight loss.
My foot problem got worse and worse and exercise became just a distant memory.
My darling husband and I planned three great trips during the year. We visited the west coast of British Columbia, Oregon and Washington State. We took a cruise through New England and our Maritimes -- so in essence we went as far west and east as you can get easily in both Canada and the US.
My mom's health continued to improve and she is better now at 81 than she was at 78. I lost two more aunts so now there is only my mom and her half brother left of that generation.
In the fall my son and his girlfriend announced with much joy that I will be a grandmother in 2011.
I had my foot surgery in October and recovery was longer and rougher than I expected for what I deemed minor surgery. I was off work for over 5 weeks and that was the final nail in the coffin for my weight loss.
I am finishing the year 32 pounds heavier than when I started.
My son did a fantastic job of surprising his girlfriend with the sweetest photobook for Christmas -- it chronicled their life together for the last three years, through home purchases, puppy and renovations. The last page was titled "our next great adventure due May 2011" with a picture of their first ultrasound. The next morning he said he had one more gift but its so big she needs to close her eyes while he fetched it from their basement. When she opened her eyes he was kneeling in front of her with an engagement ring. Best part is they both were speechless - poor D he forgot what he wanted to say.
So weight gain, still recovering foot aside it was a good year. My loving husband was the greatest caretaker (I knew he would be). We look forward to all that 2011 will bring to us.
Happy New Year to Everyone!!!

Life manages to have a way to get in the way of the best laid plans!! May 2011 be filled with great friendships and wonderful adventures (regardless of weigh loss!) :-)
